About This Event
Learn the beautiful art of shibori fabric dyeing using indigo blue dye! In this class, you will learn 4-5 different ways to prepare fabric in traditional ways with modern tools that create organic or geometric, and always beautiful, designs on fabric. We will practice on muslin cotton fabrics, then you will use your new skills on revamping your wardrobe! Materials: All practice fabrics, design materials, and dyestuffs will be provided. Feel free to bring three to four 100% cotton or rayon items from home: T-shirt, skirts, socks, scarf. One pair of jeans is fine, but no bulky hoodies, or sweaters. Also, make sure to bring garbage bags from home to transport your items. You can wash your clothes at home using my recommendations to keep things neat and clean. Some preparations require simple hand-stitching, others are specific ways of folding and binding cloth. We will create small samples of each technique, then you will choose what you like best to use on your clothing. Skill level: All Level class. -- More Summertime Fabric Dyeing classes available Rust Dyeing- July 14th & 1 hour on August 11 Natural Dye Solar Dyeing- August 11 Indigo Shibori Dyeing- August 18 Take all 3 Summertime Fabric Dyeing classes and save $$!
