The Strand is thrilled to bring Mamma Mia! to the stage August 2-4 as our annual summer musical! Featuring the music of Swedish pop band ABBA, this worldwide phenomenon follows young Sophie who, before her wedding, sets out to discover who her father is by inviting three of her mother's former lovers to the Greek island where they live. Watch, laugh, and sing along as Sophie's mother, Donna, comes face-to-face with her past loves, reunites with her former girl band, and general pre-wedding chaos takes place. Throughout the show, youll recognize some of ABBAs best-known hits, such as: Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Voulez-Vous, Lay All Your Love On Me, and, of course, the titular Mamma Mia!. Mamma Mia! originally premiered on Broadway in 2001, and is currently the 9th-longest running musical in Broadway history, having completed a 14-year run. The show runs August 2-3 at 7 pm and August 4 at 2 pm. In addition, you can join the cast for a special ABBA karaoke session after opening night on August 2. For $5, re-enter the Strand, grab a glass of wine, and join the cast members and band and have your own moment of glory on stage!
